Theory:

The SX filters are designed specifically to provide excellent organic removal and filtered electrolyte for the solvent extraction market. Operating in the difficult environments of solvent extraction plants is the main function of the filters that are ruggedly designed and built.

Function:

The SX filters provide for excellent removal of organic and suspended solids from the electrolyte system. There are two saparate lsyer used by SX filter one is of media for coalescing and second is for filtration. Organic removal down to 2 PPM provided by the upper media layer while filtration down to 10 microns is provided by the second media layer.

Construction:

316L SS constructed Vessel internals for inlet flow, backwash and service outlet. In addition, the air and service outlet internals have 316L SS screens for media containment.

316L SS build up the SX filter pressure vessels, built to the stringent ASME and NB requirements and stamped. 50 psig is the normal pressure vessel rating with avialable higher ratings. Man ways, tank supports and windows are standard for this filtration system and are also constructed of 316L SS. All vessel connections are standard ANSI flanges.

Carbon steel skids are mounted on the SX filters that have been blasted to SSP-10 and coated with both epoxy and polyurethane for extra corrosion protection.

Piping and Valves:

316 SS butterfly with air operators is the standard valves for the SX filter. For monitoring the system's performance two 316 SS sample valves are included and a 316 SS safety pressure relief valve provides system protection.

Piping is manufactured of 316 SS or Drisco HDPE fusion welded and can be heat traced to prevent crystallization

Media Filtration:

From the electrolyte system, the SX filters provide for excellent removal of organic and suspended solids. Two separate layers of media for coalescing and for filtration are used by the SX filters. The upper media layer provides for organic removal down to 2 ppm while the second media layer provides electrolyte filtration down to 10 microns.

Capacity:

The SX filters can be construct to a vast variety of specifications. Typical options include alternate piping,  custom controllers and vessel materials, such as specific welding, Hastelloy, specifications and many others, to find the demanding requirements of clients and specifying engineering firms for their industrial filtration needs. SX filters are self-contained units, free standing and available in variety of standard sizes with individual unit flow rates of up to 350 GPM (80 m3/hr). Numerous units can provide for much higher flow rates. All instruments, vessels,  piping, controls and media are provided for a completely automatic and operational filtration system.

Maintenance cost:

With no movable parts, the media cleaning system ensures maximum media lifetimes. Typically the anthracite media can be replace in every 24 months when combined with SX process technology. Garnet lifetime is considerably longer.
